EcOasis' commitment

According to Statistic Canada and Environment Canada, buildings account for 16% of the total energy and 56% of the potable water consumed nationwide and contributes to 30% of Canada's carbon dioxide emissions. Canadians spend on average 90% of our time inside and it is estimated that indoor air quality is on average 4-5 times worse than outdoor levels contributing to various respiratory conditions such as asthma and allergies. EcOasis is a founding member of the Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC) and is committed to reducing the environmental impact of construction as well as providing better quality healthy homes. EcOasis' LEED Canada for Homes projects address and seek to reduce their footprint through: innovative design, site sustainability, connection to the surrounding community, water efficiency, energy efficiency, atmospheric impacts, material and resource selection, indoor air quality, and education of the building industry and public. Features on EcOasis' projects include photovoltaic panels, non-toxic materials, designer low flow faucets, energy efficient lighting, native landscaping to name a few however the majority of the impact was reduced during the construction where material and energy saving practises were incorporated whenever possible to increase insulation values and reducing air leakage. EcOasis homes certified under the LEED Canada for Homes program have much higher performance levels than homes built to code and are generally healthier, more comfortable, more durable, more energy efficient, and have a smaller environmental footprint than conventional homes.
